What’s New in R: August 26, 2024
Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s New in R! This week, we’re featuring a website that collects all Quarto extensions, a package that helps you to convert between output formats, and a tutorial on how to make a map that shows traffic noise. Let’s dive in!
Quarto extensions
Quarto extensions are a way of adding functionality to the base set of tools that exists in Quarto. For example, I used the spotlight extension to be able to highlight sections of my slides (like this) that I used for my recent talk at posit::conf. Mickaël Canouil has put together a website that collects all extensions.
{renderthis} package
The {renderthis} package helps you to convert between formats. For example, if you make slides in Quarto and render them to HTML, this package can also help you make PDF versions.
From Honks to Maps: Traffic Noise Mapping Mastery with R!
Another great tutorial from Milos Makes Maps. This one shows how to make a map that shows traffic noise. Even if this isn’t your area of interest you’ll learn a lot by watching this video.
