R package workshop

There are many benefits to making your own R package. But making a package is complicated. There are some great resources out there: the R Packages book by Hadley Wickham and Jenny Bryan is great, as is Malcolm Barrett’s Package Development with R course. Another great-looking resource I recently came across is this set of materials from a workshop given by COMBINE, which describes itself as an association for Australian students in bioinformatics.

Beautiful code, because we’re worth it!

I take code appearance very seriously. That’s because much of the code that I write is for teaching others to use R. However, even if you don’t teach, writing beautiful code can make a big difference. In this presentation by Maëlle Salmon, you’ll learn about why you should write beautiful code and get some tips to automate the process of making your code more beautiful.
