Coloured text in {ggplot2}: {ggtext} vs {marquee}

Up until recently, if you’ve wanted to add color in your ggplot plot titles, the only package you could use was {ggtext}. Now, there is a new package called {marquee} that does similar things (read about it on the Tidyverse blog). In this blog post, Nicola Rennie takes {marquee} for a spin, showing how it compares to {ggtext}.

Notes from live code review of {soils}

Nick Tierney, an Australia-based R developer, recently offered to do reviews of R packages that others have made. One person who took him up on this offer was Jadey Ryan, who works at the Washington State Department of Agriculture. In this blog post, Jadey discusses what she learned from meeting with Nick to do a review of her package called {soils}. The video recoding of their meeting is also posted. If you make R packages, it’s a great way to learn from an experienced developer.

{paletteer} 1.6.0

The {paletteer} package collects color palettes from across the R world in a single location. Its developer, Emil Hvitfeldt, recently announced version 1.6.0, which brings the total to nearly 3,000 (yes, really) palettes.
